Throughout his career, Kurt Anthony Scharfenberger has successfully tried more than 20 cases before either a judge or jury which gives him the rare modern distinction of being an actual trial attorney. Cases tried by Mr. Scharfenberger include matters involving personal injury, labor and employment, and products liability.

A Louisville, Kentucky native, Mr. Scharfenberger is a graduate of Eastern High School in Louisville. He began his academic studies at the University of Kentucky where he graduated with a degree in political science in 1991. Mr. Scharfenberger continued his studies at the University of Kentucky College of Law where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1994. Mr. Scharfenberger has been practicing law for more than 17 years and has extensive litigation experience handling cases at both the State and Federal level.

Prior to joining the United States Army’s JAG Corps, the Kentucky Labor Cabinet employed Mr. Scharfenberger for three years where he assisted with litigating workers’ compensation claims. During his tenure with the Labor Cabinet, Mr. Scharfenberger learned in detail the process of successfully litigating claims involving workplace injury and the psychological, economic, and medical effects of being off of work.

Scharfenberger began his legal career as an officer for United State Army’s JAG Corps, where he served with the prestigious First Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, Texas. During his four years of active service Mr. Scharfenberger served as trial counsel for his unit and was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for combat duty in Kuwait.

After completing his active service, Mr. Scharfenberger began working in the private sector in Louisville, Kentucky where he has practiced for the last 10 years. During his civilian career Mr. Scharfenberger has worked for some of the most prestigious law firms in Kentucky, litigating and trying cases in both Federal and State courts.

Mr. Scharfenberger is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and Louisville Bar Association. He is also licensed to practice before the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Kentucky.
